Window Treatments Installation & Technical Specialist 

 

Location: Kendal, Cumbria | Coverage: Lake District, Scotland, Yorkshire & Lancashire 

Employment: Full-time, Permanent | Salary negotiable depending on experience 

About Us 

We are a specialist interiors company based in Kendal, Cumbria, supplying and installing premium window dressing and interior finishing products. Our product range includes curtains, blinds, shutters, conservatory blinds, external window screens, awnings, and outdoor structures such as pergolas. We also offer a design consultation service and integrate smart home and automated control systems into our installations. 

We are a small, quality-focused business covering a wide and beautiful area — from the Lake District into Scotland, across to Yorkshire and down through Lancashire. No two days look the same, and we take pride in the standard of our work. 

 

The Role 

This is not a straightforward fitting role. Yes, the core of the work is installing window dressings — blinds, curtains, shutters, and specialist products — but the scope goes well beyond that. As we continue to grow, we want to develop this role with the right person, taking on responsibilities including surveying and measuring, advising on product specifications, quoting for blind projects, and supporting our electrical and smart home installations. 

We want to be clear: this is a physically demanding, varied, and technically involved position. It requires someone who is genuinely adaptable, takes pride in their work, and is excited by the idea of learning and growing with a developing business. If you are looking for a quiet, repetitive role, this probably is not the right fit. Key Responsibilities 

Installation 

• Installing curtains, blinds, shutters, and conservatory blinds to a high standard 

• Installing external products including window screens, awnings, and outdoor structures (including pergolas as this area develops) 

• Ensuring all installations are completed safely, neatly, and to the client’s satisfaction 

 

Surveying & Quoting 

• Carrying out accurate site surveys and measurements 

• Preparing quotes for standard blind projects 

• Advising customers on product suitability, with particular expertise in hard products such as shutters and conservatory blinds 

 

Electrical & Smart Home 

• Installing and programming low voltage electrical products (indoor) — full electrical qualification is not required, but competence and confidence are essential 

• Linking products with smart home control systems and assisting with integration 

• Advising colleagues and clients on electrical requirements for projects 

• Liaising effectively with qualified electricians and smart home system installers (all 240v and outdoor electrical work is handled by qualified contractors) 

 

Team & Customer Interaction 

• Acting as a knowledgeable point of contact for customers on site 

• Supporting and advising other team members on technical aspects of projects 

• Representing the business professionally at all times 

 

What We’re Looking For 

We are open to candidates at different stages of their career. An experienced installer or tradesperson with the right technical breadth would be able to hit the ground running and would be rewarded accordingly. However, we are equally interested in a younger candidate who has the aptitude, attitude, and hunger to develop — someone we can train and grow with over time. 

More important than a specific background is the right mindset. We need someone who: 

 

• Is practical and technically capable, with confidence working with their hands 

• Is comfortable with technology and IT — programming devices and integrating with smart home systems will be part of the role 

• Takes initiative and can work independently, making good decisions without needing to be directed at every step 

• Is a clear and confident communicator with customers and colleagues 

• Is adaptable and enjoys variety — no two days are the same 

• Is physically fit and comfortable with the demands of a hands-on installation role 

• Has a genuine interest in the products and takes pride in the quality of their work 

• Is willing to learn and keep up with products and systems that are constantly developing 

 

Requirements 

• Full UK driving licence — essential 

• Good practical and technical skills, gained through trade, installation, or a related background 

• Comfortable with IT systems, programming, and technology integration 

• Strong attention to detail and a high standard of finish 

• Good communication skills, both with clients and within the team 

• CSCS card — desirable but not essential; support may be available for the right candidate
